Pinoy is a demonym used by Filipinos for their compatriots in the Philippines and around the world. Filipinos usually refer to themselves informally as Pinoy or some times feminine: Pinay, which is formed by taking the last four letters of the word 'Filipino' and adding the diminutive suffix -y. The word was coined by expatriate Filipino Americans during the 1920s and was later adopted by Filipinos in the Philippines.
Pinoy is a term of endearment and is rarely used in formal settings. The term is akin to that of a nickname which is used by close family members and friends so that one who uses it somehow already developed some close ties with Filipinos.

How to Use Colors to Change Your Mood
We all have good moods, ambivalent and even bad moods. This is part of life, but did you know that you can use color to change your mood? In most cases people who are interested in using color to change their mood want to change their mood from a negative one to a positive one, and color is one of the best ways to do this. The interesting thing about using color to change our moods is that it is so subtle. In fact most people don’t even realize that when they put on their red suit, they are increasing their feeling of control and power over their lives or that they want to give the appearance of this to others. It is a fact that some colors are more stimulating than others. So choosing your color schemes carefully if you want to use color as a tool to change your mood is crucial. Read on to learn more.
Things You’ll Need:
• A tablet
• A pen or pencil
• An idea of your favorite colors
Step 1 - Make a list of your favorite colors.
Step 2 - Next to each color list the feeling that it gives you when you wear it, or see it. This may be difficult to put into words and some colors may evoke more than one feeling, just do the best you can to put a label to the feeling(s).
Step 3 - Make an inventory of your home. Go into each room and note which colors you or someone else has chosen to decorate a room.
Step 4 - Make a list of each room in your home and next to it, list the colors used to decorate that room.
Step 5 - Next go to your closet and look at each piece of clothing. Make a list with each item and the color it is. Also make a separate list with your accessories and shoes as well.
Step 6 - Compare your list of favorite colors and the feelings they evoke with the other lists.
Step 7 - Now make a list of what you want to be feeling in each room of your home. If the colors in each room don’t match the feeling(s) you are trying to evoke in that particular room then rearrange the items in all the rooms of your home until they do. Replace items and repaint rooms as necessary to get the mood you are looking for.
Step 8 - Now take a look at your clothing, shoes and accessories lists. Are your favorite colors there? Do your clothes give or evoke the moods you need for the occasions they are for? If not begin getting rid of those clothes whose colors make you feel badly or even just ambivalent. Replace them with colors that evoke the moods you want. Do the same thing with your shoes and accessories.
Tips & Warnings:
• Moods are like clothes, they change all the time. Don’t be afraid to experiment with new colors, or to play with the colors you already have to give different moods.
• Don’t go out and spend thousands replacing items in your home or your closet. If you cannot get the moods you are looking for right away with what you already have then begin slowly and carefully replacing items as you can afford to. Even a few new items in the colors you want will begin to shift your mood towards the positive.
• Try to work with what you already have. Chances are you already have items in the colors that evoke the moods you are seeking, so use these items first before going out and buying new things.
• Shop at thrift stores. It’s amazing what kinds of great things you can find at thrift stores. The fact is you don’t have to purchase anything new, check out your local thrift store because you just never know what you might find!
• A few colors and their emotional associations are as follows. Generally speaking red evokes feelings of danger, desire, strength, and even violence or anger, it is very stimulating. Blue evokes feelings of calmness, tranquility, and trust. Black because of its bad reputation evokes feelings of evil, darkness, and unhappiness, although this can vary from culture to culture. In Native American culture the color black represents the womb of Mother Earth and as such does not evoke bad feelings at all. Green simulates moods of vitality, health, calm and soothing, but it is also associated with jealousy and envy. Like other colors yellow has both positive and negative emotional associations. It can evoke feelings of happiness, joy, and hope, but it also has associations with cowardice and jealousy.
• While there are standard guidelines for what sorts of moods colors evoke, be aware that there are people for whom these standard guidelines don’t fit. For example, red tends to be a stimulating color, but for those who have Asian heritage it may in fact be calming as this is a cultural more that those of this culture are taught. So, if you find that blue stimulates you rather than calms you, or that red makes you angry rather than making you feel powerful and on top of things then go with that. Otherwise you may evoke the opposite mood to what you are going for and end up being pretty miserable.

How to Be an Alpha Male
Alpha Males give off such a sexy vibe that women can't help but be drawn to them. They display dominant, masculine behaviors that are extremely attractive. Follow these easy steps to be the Sexy Alpha Male and get everything you want! And yeah, I know you're thinking "What does SHE know?" Well, I know what I and most women LOVE... it's that Sexy Alpha Male. :-)
Things You’ll Need:
• Self-Awareness
• Courage
• A Sense of Humor
• Your Own Life
Step 1 - HAVE A LIFE THAT YOU ARE PROUD OF
... one that you invite others to share with you.
Be completely comfortable and content with all of your relationships.
Alpha Males are sexy because they don't depend onanyone else to tell them 'who they are'. An Alpha Male is first a MAN. A man works hard for what he has. A man takes the lead in situations, from his career to in the dating arena. A man is responsible and accountable for all of his actions. The Sexy Alpha Male is proud of who he is and what he does. Because of this, he is confident; and we all feel more comfortable around and attracted to those who are confident.
Step 2 - USE YOUR MIND TO CONTROL YOUR EMOTIONS
Alpha Males may be emotional, but they do not show it. They are able to control their emotions through their sense of reason and good grasp of reality.
A man who has no control of his emotions... like "anger", "anxiety", or "embarrassment"... is NOT sexy. Take an objective view of every situation. Act as though you are a 'watcher' standing outside of yourself. When you do this, you will show that you are in control of yourself. A man who is in control of himself, and doesn't sweat the small stuff, is incredibly sexy.
Step 3 - BUY SOME GOOD COLOGNE
I can’t stress this enough, but your sexual scent is one of the most important parts of being sexy. Try on a few different cologne, after-shave, and deodorant combos until you get one that is uniquely YOU. Watch how people respond to you when you are wearing certain fragrances. Since a lot of women are NOT attracted to looks alone, the way you smell makes a huge difference in how sexy they find you.
Step 4 - LET WOMEN KNOW THAT YOU ARE ATTRACTED TO THEM SEXUALLY
This is so important if you want to stay out of the Friend Zone with a certain someone. You make women aroused when you show sexual desire and act like you want them. But of course, you can't do this in a 'creepy' way. :-) Just be natural and have fun with it. Throw sexual innuendos into the conversation. Check out attractive women as they walk by... Have a little bit of that testosterone-driven-on-the-hunt-for-chicks vibe. A man who's not afraid to show that he likes women is SEXY.
Step 5 - BE MASCULINE WITH A HINT OF SOMETHING ELSE
Think James Bond or Simon Cowell and mix it with something else. Masculine geek. Masculine violinist. Masculine playwright. Mix masculinity with something a tad softer. People who pull this off: Will Smith, Tim McGraw, even Alex Trebek from Jeopardy has this. Try it. It will give you an air of depth... as long as you remember mostly MASCULINE + HINT of something else.
Step 6 - STARE INTO PEOPLES' EYES
Don’t hold back… especially after you say something that you really mean. Maintaining confident eye contact is a key component of attraction. Not only does the person you are speaking with feel 'heard', but you are also showing DOMINANCE. Male dominance is sexy.
Step 7 - CHECK YOUR POSTURE
Yep, your mom and your elementary school teachers were unknowingly preparing you to be sexy in the future. :-) "Head up, shoulders back, good posture, no fidgeting." That's right.
Step 8 - SAY WHAT YOU THINK, WANT, AND NEED
Disagree with people if necessary. Stand up for yourself. Decide that your opinions matter and then express them. Be unashamedly unpredictable. Since most people have a hard time articulating their needs and wants (and worse yet, are afraid to stand by their convictions) you become a break from the norm by speaking your mind.
"A break from the norm" perfectly describes a Sexy Alpha Male.
Step 9 - FIND YOUR BEST QUALITY AND SHOW IT... ALL OF THE TIME
If you have strong shoulders, show them in a nicely tailored jacket. If you have a beautiful mind, talk about what you dream about. Work whatever you’ve got.
When you focus on the really great things about yourself, the other things fade into oblivion. You are only sexy in others' eyes if you are sexy in your own eyes first. So focus your attention on what's awesome about you, and others will pick up on it.
Step 10 - MAKE THE DECISION TO LOVE YOURSELF
You become sexy with this one simple tip. When you love yourself first, you will be coming to people out of an overflow of joy rather than neediness.
Choosing to love YOU makes others follow suit. So fall in love with you and be the Sexy Alpha Male who gets everything he wants!

How to be a Ralph Lauren Polo Model (or at least look like One!)
Ok a topic for the week... "How to ride the mechanical bull better than Travolta in Urban Cowboy?" or "How to stay fit at 50..." or "how to use Slimfast" to supplement your diet or"how to be sexy enough to model for Ralph Lauren or how to purchase your first Acoustic Guitar? Well without another thought let's take that journey!
Things You’ll Need:
• Money for your first guitar.. $200 or 4,0000 YEN! Because at that price, it's gonna have to be made in Asia!
• Bring it On! ..Attitude!
• Physical Endurance, Mental Separation!
• A Model for a girlfriend, Fitness or Aerobic Women to gossip with.. (it pays off later, be patient)
• The best Haircut you can afford!
• SlimFast for the Quickness!
• Bar or Night Club with a Mechanical Bull..
• Surround youself with Positive people, Young and Older!
Step 1 - Colorful Martin Guitar! Big Fun.. You want a Good Acoustic Guitar! It's a must that you are able to play it! Start working' on that now, it isn't that hard.. You look for a Solid Wood Acoustic. "Solid Back and Sides Wood" ..Meaning, not a laminated! Craigslist is loaded with acoustic guitars, just copy and paste the models # of the guitars you find into google and find out if they meet that criteria! Now you have something to be creative with and attracted to by others! You are on your way by working hard, at your accomplishments too.. that's right, being a "Polo" model!
Step 2 - Required Polo Model Hatwear.. everyday use and natural, yeah? Find a Job that uses all or most of your body muscle groups! Focusing on the body core.. Legs and Arms will come naturally! I used my Job at the CVS stores, as a set-up person for new stores! I carried and pushed and stretched and rotated my core body, as I did my days work and then supplemented at the gym for cardio etc.
Step 3 - Real Cowboys make better Models when they get older and wiser!
After working that hard and being fed so much BS.. from co-workers, (That's wear the mental separation, comes in!) You go out to a Tough Local Bar in the Quad Cities, Iowa.. with a friend and avoiding alcohol, you mount that "Mechanical Bull" and pull yourself up forward on the seat, until your hand and the underside of your pelvic girdle is almost on top of the Hand Hold of the saddle! So, one hand grips the Hand Hold of the Saddle and the other hand is up in the Air (like reaching for the stars) and ready to counter balance any quick movements, left or right.. the up or down moves belong to how flexible you can slide back and forward on the saddle with the grip you have taken! Ride with the legs Gripping, but not so intense that you forget about the fact that riding a Bull is more about balance than strength! Where were we.. Ok, You can have that drink now, but don't get mouthy in the Local Bar! If you ride the Bull.. you won't have to prove yourself in any other way! Just get your stuff and walk out! That's better than Travolta any way you look at it!
Step 4 - Be friendly with the competition.. they hired me too!
* So you've bought a guitar, worked in the field, listened to your girlfriend (The original model) and her Aerobic girlfriends talking shop.. and then steal their Modeling agent's phone number.. The ladies really doing the modeling are coy about giving out their Agents phone numbers.. but not usually to a Guy.. so get the number and set-up a meeting or go to where their shooting. Look like a well dressed Man, not boy! New.. Well fitting Jeans, White Shirt, Short Sleeves, rolled up! no tie, no hat.. Show of that great hair... (keep your hair longer at first guys, you can always cut it down if the camera shots dictate that) To tell you the truth, I always knew I could work for Hugo Boss if Polo didn't work out, don't worry, stay strong! Show that Confidence! They can feel it!
Tips & Warnings:
• Really, you have to listen to the women on this one guys.. networking is good.. I even married one of the informants! LOL
• Stay Physical, active and well groomed, just for your own satisfaction, although everybody benefits!
• Be a tough guy, get strong, but walk with small children.. and kiss your mother's cheek and hold her in your arms!
• Don't get too strong and tough.. and then be hard, that's a big mistake!
• Work from within the system, looking for opportunities as they come.. don't force anything!
• Be Patient, but not Lethargic.. You have got to get a "head up" on this game!
• Don't hurt yourself! Never hurt or fail anybody else, when you can just exuse yourself and make it easier!

How to Become an Artist (or Just Look Like One)
Things You’ll Need:
• Money
• Pen
• Vintage clothes
• Dirty hair
• Coffee
• Art supplies in your chosen medium
• Black clothes
• Chuck Taylor shoes
• Paper
Step 1 - Choose an artistic medium.
Step 2 - Purchase the tools necessary to create in your chosen medium.
Step 3 - Learn how to use your artistic tools, at least well enough to fake it if necessary, or talk as if you know something about them.
Step 4 - Study the work of artists who work in your chosen medium, memorize the names of three or four, and the name of their least recognizable and disdained work, which you will tout as a masterpiece and misunderstood.
Step 5 - Lower your hygiene standards; artists have oily hair, dirty clothes and reek of genius, and two days without a shower.
Step 6 - Buy your clothes from resale stores, thrift shops or expensive trendy vintage clothing stores (but don’t admit the last one if you want to keep your artist cred).
Step 7 - Haunt coffee shops late at night, with a hollow-eyed gaze, and the stains from your chosen medium covering your clothing, hands and anything else appropriate.
Step 8 - When you are otherwise not engaged in café haunting, art supply shopping, or picking up chicks and/or dudes, try to make some good art.
Tips & Warnings:
• Choose an artistic medium with your budget and studio space in mind: becoming a wood turner requires heavy, expensive equipment and some room, while the watercolorist can create in cramped conditions at a bargain price.
• Research the artists in your chosen medium at the library or nearest bookstore; no need to spend money on art texts, just bring a pad of paper and take notes.
• If you cannot bear to go without a shower for days, employ one of the bevy of products available to give your hair that “I just crawled out of bed and "couldn't care less what you think" look.
• Black cotton, orange and day-glo green polyester simply scream “artist” these days, as do screen-printed T-shirts and the ubiquitous Chuck Taylors (see Resources below for Converse shoes).
• Consider getting a day job that supports your artist identity: waiter/waitress, barista, art supply clerk, nanny, dog walker and morgue attendant are popular options.
• Don’t quit your day job if you’re lucky enough to have one; artists are notoriously underpaid, even real artists have to work hard to keep bread on the table, much less poseurs without artistic ambition.
• Don’t overuse your art as a pick-up line or you may become a running gag among the single scene, “Oh, here comes that guy again, the one who says he’s an Artist.”

How to Seem Cool Even When You Are Not
Americans have always had some sort of a fascination over being cool. It used to be the Fonz and James Dean, now it is more like Tom Brady for his excellence in throwing a football. All of us have at least a small amount of cool going on; however, there are ways to overcome what you lack. Follow these suggestions on how to seem cool even when you are not.
Step 1 - Keep up with the latest trends in buzzwords. Most cool people talk like they are from another planet, with made up words like technosexual, aquadextrous and connectile dysfunction. Other cool people will know exactly what you are talking about, even though you really haven’t got a clue. You can keep informed of the latest cool buzzwords at webdoh.com, because you should actually know what they mean before using them (see Resources below).
Step 2 - Tell people that you are from a city that is much cooler than the one that you are in. Some cities just seem to be cooler than others because they have so much more to offer. So try to think of an extremely cool and hip locale to say that you are from, instead of the Podunk town you really came from.
Step 3 - Make your career something cool sounding. Even if you have to add a word or two to your existing job title, people will think you are cool, if you have a cool sounding job title. In today’s media mania, any type of job in the media industry would have people fascinated to even know you. It sounds more exciting to be an online creative media strategist, than a simple title of writer. Add words like digital, creative and manager to sound more important.
Step 4 - Get an accent. Something is very intriguing about a foreign accent that creates an aura of irresistible mystery. Be sure to research the accent before using it or you may come off looking quite uncool. Irish accents are fairly easy to copy and they give an impression of charm and sophistication.
Step 5 - Keep your cool and maintain composure under pressure. The saying goes to never let them see you sweat, but you don’t want them to smell you either, so lather good with a nice smelling wash and use plenty of deodorant. Staying cool under pressure means to avoid looking ruffled when faced with the unknown. There’s no need to try to get all of the attention either, because you will make yourself look needy. You will seem cool, even if you are not, if you practice patience and let the party, so to speak, come to you.

How to Pick The Perfect Tattoo
Ready for your first tattoo? Having problems deciding what design to pick out? This is a decision thatshould never be rushed. The thing that really makes your tattoo stand out among the rest is when it is a custom work of art.
Things You’ll Need:
• Ideas
• Paper
• Pen/Pencil
• Tattoo artist in mind
Step 1 - First things first. Think long and hard about what exactly it is that you want, and ask yourself as many questions as you can. It's important that you find something that has a special meaning to you. Something that is meaningful can be a child's or spouse's name, or some sort of insignia/symbol that is personal or important to you. You may want to think of something that reflects your personality as well. Make a rough sketch of your design, to get an idea of how it will look and what size it will be. Don't be too critical of your sketch if you are not an artist, because the tattoo artist will redraw and perfect the design.
Step 2 - Next, think about the location of your tattoo. This should be based upon not only what part of your body you would like it on, but how often you want other people to see it. If you have a job as a nurse or bank teller, you may want to refrain from getting your son's initials on the side of your neck. If you are female, also think about the consequences of getting your stomach tattooed, due to the stretching of the skin during pregnancy.
Step 3 - Once you have decided the basic design and location of your tattoo, the next and final step is to find the artist that you would like to do your work. Avoid shady, hole in the wall tattoo shops that are dirty. Your first impression of the proper tattoo studio should be that you are at a professional establishment, with courteous professional people working there. Each artist at any tattoo shop should have a portfolio of all of their work on display. Flip through the designs and pictures of their work. One artist at a studio may specialize in portraits, while the other specializes in color work. Find the person that fits the needs of your design. Once you find someone you are comfortable with, approach them with your design, and they should be able to work with you until you are satisfied with it, and ready to go under the gun ;)
Tips & Warnings:
• You can never ask yourself enough questions about your tattoo. "Is this right for me?"
• Search online for other tattoo design ideas. A tattoo artist will be able to take these designs, and customize them into your own original work.
• Avoid picking designs off the wall of the tattoo studio. Many people will already have this exact same tattoo.
• Avoid extremely bright colours if your skin pigment is dark, as they will not show as well as darker colours like blue, black, purple, etc.

Original Pilipino Music, now more commonly termed Original Pinoy Music, (frequently abbreviated to OPM) originally referred only to Filipino pop songs, especially those in the ballad form; such as songs popularized in the 1970s through the mid-1990s by major commercial Filipino pop artists like Ryan Cayabyab, Sharon Cuneta, Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Basil Valdez, Rey Valera, Regine Velasquez, Ogie Alcasid, Jaya, Lani Misalucha, Lea Salonga, Janno Gibbs and the APO Hiking Society. In the passage of time as well as the development of many diverse and alternative musical styles in the Philippines, however, the term OPM now refers to any type of Original Philippine Music created in the Philippines or composed by individuals of Philippine extraction, regardless of location at the time when composed. The lyrics, in fact, may be in any language (although most of it are written either in Tagalog, English or taglish).
OPM emerged from an earlier genre called Manila Sound. It has eventually grown into a blanket term for Philippine popular music, including genres such as Pinoy Rock, Pinoy Jazz and Pinoy Alternative.
