Independence Day June 9; three-day holiday declared

MANILA, Philippines—The country will observe another long weekend two weeks from now.

As part of its “holiday economics,” Malacañang Wednesday reminded that Independence Day will be observed on June 9, a Monday. It will be a non-working holiday as earlier declared by Proclamation No. 1463 which had set specific dates of movable holidays. “All activities and celebrations in commemoration of Independence Day shall, however, remain to be observed on June 12,” deputy presidential spokesperson Lorelei Fajardo said.
